How to Create your own Tom Goes to the Mayor Images

Walker Goes to the Mayor

Just to show my appreciation for Tom Goes to the Mayor, I decided to make myself an official citizen of Jefferton. I was thinking about doing some voice recorcding and doing a little animated flash peice, but I’d have to sit down and think up a little script that would be funny and weird enough to compliment the wonderful writing of Tim & Eric & their crew.

Anyway, here’s a little “how-to” when it comes to Tom Goes to the Mayor tributes:

1. Take a picture of yourself. It needs to be a very unflattering picture of yourself no matter what sort of facial expression you’re trying to convey. Here’s a tip: pull your head back so that you have plenty of neck/chin rings that show up. Those are always unflattering.

2. Open the picture with Adobe Photoshop and crop yourself out of the background in your picture. Feel free to place yourself into another background created by yourself, photographed by yourself, or stolen off the internet (I opted for option #3).

3. Set your forground color to a nice blue color (i used hex code #1B2E97) and your background color to white.

3. Apply the “Photocopy” filter (it’s under the “Sketch” filters) to your picture layer. Set the detail to 5 and darkness to 20 for maximum “TGTTM” effect.

4. Save your creation and post it to the web, or export your graphics into Flash for animation fun.

5. ENJOY!

Homies

Anne & I went out on Friday to meet up with Bob & Ann. I only took a few pictures since my camera battery was nearly dead. We hung out at the Char Bar awhile before heading to Hounddog’s for the worst service ever. You can read about that whole ordeal here.

TacoBeer

Yesterday I went with a co-worker over to the new event in downtown Columbus called Taco+Beer. It’s a social networking type of thing where free tacos and free beer is provided! Always see some familiar faces there and it’s cool to meet some new people and talk about things. Did I mention they have free beer and free tacos??? The beer is a microbrew from our local Elevator Brewing Company, and the Tacos are courtesy of Due Amici. If you haven’t checked it out yet and are in Cølumbus you need to GO!

Andy SambergMatt Burkhart

Ok, so by now you’ve already seen the “Lazy Sunday” music video where Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell rap about going to see the Chronicles of Narnia, and you’ve also hopefully watched a lot of other good stuff at The Lonely Island. So now… I present to you… the ANDY VS MATT challenge…

One of these pictures is of Matt Burkhart… one of them is of Andy Samberg. WHICH IS WHICH? Ok, yeah, not that hard to tell since one is obviously a video screencap, but the resemblance is a bit crazy if you ask me. Good stuff.

So yeah, just wanted to share with the world and embarrass Matt a little with goofy pictures.

CU SessionsI wanted to post up an image of this flyer I made for a DJ event earlier this year. It was a pretty good time and a decent turnout. Sadly, the club has closed since then because like most clubs… the management didn’t know what they were doing. Oh well…

So last year, I made a list of my Top favorite movies of 2004, and here’s my rundown this year for 2005. I’d say I had a harder time with it this year, because honestly 2004 was a great year for movies. 2005 just didn’t have any movie that stuck in my heart like Napoleon Dynamite or Shaun of the Dead or Eternal Sunshine or Team America did. Gil Mantera: Elmo’s Wish

Elmo's WishGot a music video here to share with the world… Gil Mantera and The Ultimate Donny star in their first video from their new album Bloodsongs. The track is called “Elmo’s Wish”, which is one of Anne’s favorites off the album. I enjoy it for being one of their more downtempo type of songs, but I’d next like to see a video either for Shadow Grip, Alligator Missions, or Emotion Road. But that’s just me, and Elmo’s Wish will do for now. Check it out! Tell your friends!

Katamari Damacy Birthday Cake

For my 26th birthday this year I celebrated by going to see a Blue Jackets game with some friends (they won!) and Anne made me this cake below:

Katamari Damacy Cake

Pretty awesome, eh? It was super delicious and the best part was that I got to keep the little “Prince” that she hand made. I took him to work and propped him up at my desk. I’ve noticed him eyeing my pencils and paperclips and highlighters AND I KNOW WHAT HE’S THINKING ABOUT DOING WITH MY OFFICE SUPPLIES! Gotta keep an eye on him.

DJin at Kooma…

Dave Davis @ Kooma

So yeah, Dave & I DJ’ed at Kooma a few weeks ago (the picture above is of Dave), and I have to say it went MUCH better than the last outing. Probably because I was playing music I’ve always felt more comfortable mixing… deep minimal techy funk house… not too loud… not too “IN YOUR FACE”… just nice music to chill and nod your head to. Anyway, we tagged back and forth for nearly four hours until the place closed down and then Dave & Betsy headed home while Anne & I zoomed over to the Char Bar for a Long Island with Bob & Ann. They were doing a SPD “pub” crawl but we didn’t really have the energy to join them for more than one drink.

The next day we laid around the house… watched the movie Gandhi… I tried my hand at some homemade pizzas (topped with diced tomatoes, roasted red peppers, sauteed garlic & onions, and mozzarella) which turned out pretty good. Anne’s made them a few times, and she’s an überpro already at making pies, but I’m pretty much an amateur at making dough. It was a bit sticky and my pies were thicker than I wanted them to be, but oh well. Chalk it up to experience I guess.
